Sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit

The Solemn High Mass with the Sacrament of Confirmation was celebrated by His Lordship Bishop Antony Selvanayagam of Penang. It was a beautiful celebration which was the climax of the journey of faith undertaken by these 42 young people who are now full adult members of Christ's Church and miles Jesu.

I wont comment much and let the photos speak for themselves.

Compare and Contrast

Last year:

The Godparents/sponsors sat behind the candidates. The dress code was not uniform. There were actually people sitting in front of the candidates.

No antependium. Plain hanging on the ambo. Servers in albs and capes.

This year:

Me and my students. The girls were wearing nice lace mantillas from the Philippines and white dresses. The boys were in black pants, white shirts and ties.

The entrance procession was solemn and dignified.

A sight unseen on these shores since Vatican II? I don't know.

Actually, dear friend, I just took over the F4 class on Sunday, to prepare them to receive the Sacrament next year. We invited the Bishop, His Lordship Antony Selvanayagam to the class to talk to the kids last Sunday and his feedback was very positive.

Our parish priest has been very supportive as well. The ties and mantillas were paid for by the parish.

Anyway, I do look forward to your correspondence so we may further discuss this. My email: andrew4jc [at] gmail.com

I am glad that you took over. Hopefully you would have more latin in your classes and tell the youth more about the tridentine masses and the values and traditions that we have lost

My grandma used to make a mean mantilla; one time she made one for my aunt, it was this beautiful, black, heavy lace mantilla complete with the comb like the Spanish ladies wear it. It's one of the most treasured heirlooms in our family!

By the way these pics are truly amazing! God bless you Andrew for doing such an incredible job!

I'llbe back next year and am willing to help out if need be. Also, I notice that the makeshift missal I made is still being used. Maybe you can ask if some money from the cathecatical fund for books can be used in purchasing a real missal. i can get it from here in Dubs

No, it's a completely different Missal. Only the cover was reused to save costs.

As you know, the reason we use an attenuated version is so that the Roman Canon is the only option.

The candidates looked like Confirmation candidates! I know you worked hard to prepare them, too. Thank you for the pictures.
God bless
