Corpus Christi in Rome 07

Photopost of the Corpus Christi celebrations in Rome presided over by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. I just thought that you might like to check out what the Mass and procession in Rome was like compared to Penang and Nibong Tebal.

Just look at that Marini chap. While the Pope and the other bishop are praying in reverence, he is just playing with his pectoral cross, which shouldn't be worn over the cotta anyway. Yes, O disciple of Bugnini, we're very well aware that you're a bishop, thank you very much.

After the previous attack attempt against him in St. Peter's square, another man tried attacking the Pope after the Corpus Christi procession in Rome.

Italian police officers detain an unidentified man a few minutes after Pope Benedict XVI left St. Mary Major Basilica where he celebrated the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, in Rome, Thursday, June 7, 2007. The man started shouting and tried to enter the locked basilica. When some in the crowd began calling for police, officers quickly arrived and grabbed the muscular-looking man. Rome police said they did not immediately have any information on the details. (AP Photo/Pier Paolo Cito)

Do pray for Pope Benedict, that the Lord Jesus would continue to protect and guide he man he had chosen to be His Vicar on earth.

I ATTENTED THE OUTDOOR MASS WHEN I WAS IN ROME. I WAS VERY CLOSE, UP TO THE RAILING AT THE CHURCH AND RECEIVED COMMUNION. A GREAT CELEBRATION. EVERYONE WAS SO QUIET WHEN THE POPE CAME BY, EVEN THE TRAFFIC BECAME SILENT. VERY STRANGE. CHRISTINE

Andrew,
This is an incredible blog. I would like to use one of these pictures of Pope Benedict for a diocesan website, do they have a copyright?

Most of the photos I use are attributed, but I don't think there is any problem in using them for non commercial purposes. I guess the final copyright holder for the Holy Father's images is the Holy Father himself =)

What is the overall picture like? Obviously from your wonderful post it looks busy, but how about the days before and after this special day?? Thanks and God bless, Karen
