Good luck, kids

Some of you might remember the kids from my Confirmation class earlier this year.

Well, they are now taking their standardized tests, the SPM or Malaysian Certificate of Education which is equivalent to the British O-Levels.

In preparation for this intimidating moment (more intimidating for some (the lazy non-studiers) than for others), a special blessing for the students was arranged at one of the Sunday morning Masses.

Candles were lit as they got up to the front of the altar.

The people prayed for them with outstretched arms.

They prayed for themselves.

The priest prayed over them.

And blessed them with Holy Water.

And a good time was had by all. Anyway, good luck, kids and remember, please don't embarrass me..... further.

Congratulations, and may Almighty God continue to bless your parish.

By the way, how big is the parish?

(In many North American parishes, we would be speechless with joy at such proper attire in a Confirmation class.)

Hi Suzanne, non sum dignus. Many thanks for kindly remembering me for this award!!

Hi Mike.
On paper we have about 5000 souls. Actually, the Sunday Mass attendance is closer to 2500. The weekday Mass attendance is about 50-100 depending.

As to the confirmation attire, these kids were from my class and I felt that I had to do something =)

Ask them not to wear so low cut too.

Modesty!

Telling a girl what to wear? Thomas, u try it at your parish and see how it goes. Then u can let me know.

You can also try it on your teenage kids, if you have any, or your female friends or relatives.

Good luck on that, by the way.

You teach them to wear veil but the breast is exposed.

It's a sin to cause others to sin.

Teach them first in your class

Thomas,

First off, your must not let your eye wander. It's easier to tell people to cover up, like the Muslims who blame rapes on 'uncovered meat' which animals cannot be blamed for eating. But as Christians, we know we are not animals and should have self control which is far harder than telling people what to do.

This breast exposed thing? Only dirty minds see dirty things. I quote the motto of the order of the garter, Honi soit qui mal y pense. Look it up.

Secondly, sin, as I hope your catechism teacher taught you, requires the sinner to be aware that God's law is being broken and to intentionally set out to break said law. Yeah, I'm sure that the girls intended to come for their Confirmation to break God's law. Haih... pharisaism.

Thirdly, as I have said earlier, since you are so admirably concerned for the covering of women, what have you done about it? Are you teaching catechism? Or do you only criticize? I put my money where my mouth is by sacrificing my time to teach the kids. What have you done? Again, it's so much easier to criticize. Do something and see and if you manage to get things done, then, don't criticize, but share your wonderful methods. If you have nothing to show because you have done nothing, don't shut up, but do something instead. Be positive.

Lastly, I am not the parents. If the parents do not disapprove, can I? What exactly do you expect me to do? Do propose so we can benefit from the ineffable fount of your wisdom.

There's only so much I can do and like leading a horse to water, I can't force it to drink. That is their decision to make, for good or for ill, and theirs is the consequences to bear, for good or for ill.

Very great is it to teach Catechism or heresy

Catholics are so traditional but like whores when go to church
